Le 10 Bis: An Understated Boutique Hotel in Paris’s 17th Arondissement

Reading Time:

For those looking for something a little less over-the-top and a little easier on the bottom line, Le 10 Bis is an understated chic hideaway  in Paris’s 17th arrondissement. Nestled inside a typical Haussmann style block, this boutique hotel delivers contemporary Parisian style alongside the peacefulness of a good residential area just a short walk to the Champs Elysées and the Arc de Triomphe.

Hotel History

Before it’s life as a 4-star hotel, “Le 10 Bis” was a place of notorious reputation and the center of ‘exotic nightlife’ in Paris. The former owner was Lucienne Goldfarb, also known as “Katia the Redhead”. The Jewish woman fled to France from Poland in the 1930s and opened a hotel in the chic 17th district of Paris in the late 1950s, making it a place where women of easy virtue could discretely “entertain” their clients.

As the hotel is located at the 10 bis rue du Débarcadère, insiders referred to the location as “Le 10 Bis”. The present owner kept the name for the hotel.

Rooms & Suites

The 21 rooms and 2 suites have been elegantly decorated in a sleek contemporary design with urban chic influences. Considering Parisian standards they all are pretty spacious, with marble, wood, glass or cotton in hues of soft  beige, ochre and blue. Rooms have king-size beds, a mini bar, tea and coffee set, a laptop-size safe and a very good soundproofing. The rooms located on the 5th floor even have a typical Haussmann balcony with a view.
