Unruly Pig is UK best gastropub The “Britalian” pub restaurant in Bromeswell is one of five east Anglian pubs in the annual Estrella Damm Top 50 Gastropubs List for 2022.

His and Karl Green’s feted menus comprise treacle cured trout oyster, Orford lobster risotto brown crab, chilli and lime, pumpkin agnolotti, saddle of hare caramelised celeriac, Cropwell Bishop and pear, mallard, salsify, sprouts and damson, cote de boeuf chorizo and nduja mac cheese. His speciality side is dripping chips. Three-four set menus start at £25.

Menus are changed regularly and offer gluten-free, dairy-free, and vegetarian options to ensure everyone is catered for. Produce is brought in fresh from the coast and other local suppliers.
Complementing the vast menu are more than 60 wines available by the glass, Cask Marque-accredited and hand-pulled beers alongside a range of bottled craft beers for the drinkers.Â
What’s more, the pub, set in a lush, green garden, is a 16th-century inn with a Regency period add-on featuring beams, crooked ceilings and log burners.Â
The Top 50 Gastropubs list, now in its 13th year, ranks the UK’s best gastropubs according to the votes from more than 400 gastropub owners, food critics and other industry experts.Â
“This list is the gold standard. It’s the business. To be a part of such a prestigious group is a huge honour and a very real privilege.” Says head chef Dave Wall.
Experience something new
A popular experience with patrons is the “Be Unruly” Tasting Menu offered at the pub at a discounted price every Thursday. The tasting menu will be available for just £49 per guest (usually £70) for five courses (plus pre-dinner nibbles and bread). This special offer runs into December.Â
Guests have the opportunity to enjoy a selection of outstanding wines, perfectly paired with each course for just £39 extra per guest
