Vietnam Phu Quoc,
Wow! Where do I begin……
Vietnam Phu Quoc Island, a magical paradise just off the southeast coast of Vietnam is any travaholics dream. Tropical beaches, thriving ecosystems, crystal clear waters, coral reefs, rain forests, cave diving, theme parks, safaris, and not to mention incredible restaurants and beach bars.
Enter….. Rory’s beach bar!
Rory’s beach bar, nestled and tucked away on the east coast of the island is every restauranteur’s dream. Those lucky few to have experienced this gem will know that Rory’s was once situated on the west coast of the island but decided to make the move due to an increase in industrial construction, a move that couldn’t have gone any better.
Vietnam Phu Quoc,
Rory’s beach bar is a 30-minute drive from the main town of Duong Duong in Phu Quoc. Whether you are taking a motorbike or local transport, the drive takes you through the tropical vegetation of the west side of the island.
While taking in that fresh sea salt air you notice an abundance of families playing, laughing, and cheering on the roadside. There’s also the option to stop at one of the local “Chi Oi’s” spaza shops for a cheeky ice-cold beer while relaxing with the cutest little Phu Quoc puppies, all creating a sense of a calm and soothing atmosphere.
Once 30 minutes have passed, as you cruise down the west coast, a bright blue sign emerges on the right-hand side, the sort of sign that makes you grin with joy and pulls you in like the island’s undercurrents.

The Restaurant!
As you drive down into the car park you are greeted with an array of beautiful flowers and tropical green vegetation that is uniquely designed around an 18-hole par three mini golf course! We came, we saw, and we played almost immediately!
Heaps of fun as you can see on our childish little faces. As you walk through the wooden walkway you notice captivating tree houses on your left which Rory himself built and offers as accommodation.
When you reach the end of the decked path your eyes start to light up as you see the magnificent Rory’s beach bar elegantly positioned just over the Indian ocean.

Either Rory himself or one of the friendly staff are there to welcome you with a smile on their face every time. The bar is designed and shaped like a giant boat and has been shipped and custom-built from the previous location.
The open-plan restaurant spans across the ocean almost the size of a basketball court and is stacked with plenty of seating options that accommodate big groups and even the good old nomad individual.
The decking outside has a simple yet comforting design and is filled with unique brightly colored lounge chairs that just want to make you kick off your sandals and soak up the sun.
Rory’s offers a range of activities within its location such as snooker, mini golf, a seawater-filled rock pool, darts, foosball, and a massive custom-built plasma screen T.V for all your sports junkies!
Now for the food! I don’t know about you guys but I would consider myself to be somewhat of a MASSIVE foodie and good food at any great beach bar is a winner-winner chicken dinner!
Rory’s offers a wide range of cuisines, from scrumptious bar snacks to wholesome burgers and in my personal opinion, the best fish and chips in Vietnam!
Naturally, Rory came over and welcomed us graciously as he does to every guest, and introduced the menu to us. My better half and I tend to order a bit of everything so we went for 3 dishes on this excursion. We ordered the infamous “beer battered” fish and chips with a side of veg and salad.
The tenderness of the delectable barramundi just melts in your mouth however they are a little shy on the size of the portion of chips. We also felt like some nibbles so we were encouraged to try the Phu Quoc salt and pepper squid(Pictured in the middle).

The texture of the batter was just perfect and was complemented by the very well-known Vietnamese fish sauce dip. You’ll find most dishes don’t come without it! Lastly, we had to sink our teeth into the very modest portion-sized chicken schnitzel(Pictured on the right). This comes with a light garden salad, some skinny fries, and a peppercorn sauce.
If I were to recommend any of the three, I’d be shouting for at least two more portions of that barramundi fish and chips! Be sure to enjoy your favorite cocktail while enjoying the sundowners and taking in that festive island spirit. Don’t wait to check out this magical spot and my advice would be to make a whole day of it.
Vietnam Phu Quoc, The Magic Of Rory’s Beach Bar Take the family, your closest friends, or any of your loved ones for a fun-filled exhilarating day out at Rory’s beach bar. All meals were a great treat and we left with our tummies full and our heart’s content.
Until next time… We’ll BeSeeingYou!
